The Cross necklace is much more than Jewerly

The cross represents faith and therefore it is not unusual to see people wearing a cross necklace. If you’re a spiritual person, chances you own a cross necklace, or you at least have been given a gold cross necklace at some point in your life. One interesting thing about these types of necklaces is that it is quite frequently considered non-denominational. However, many people of the Christian faith will argue the cross is a symbol of the execution of Jesus Christ who was crucified and died on the cross for everybody’s sins according to the Christian faith. The Christian faith only required you to believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins and asked for forgiveness. Therefore, the cross is more representative of the Christian faith and the need to confess and repent your sins. This type of necklace itself is a beautiful piece to show your support of religious faith. However, the cross is not just jewelry but is an expression of your beliefs and is presented to anyone who is able to view the necklace. So, if you have gold or sterling silver cross necklace and you are in a place that does not support Christianity then you could be the target of discrimination or even in a worse case scenario you could become the target of violence based on your beliefs.

The cross is just not for wearing or for the church to bear on their buildings or place of worship. The cross has become an iconic symbol around the world. If there is a disaster or war where people are dying you will likely see the Red Cross on scene trying to help people through their time of need. It is for these reasons the cross also remains in other countries. It’s not just because of faith but also because people view workers who arrive in their vehicles with a cross on their shirts as people who are there to help and not to harm. Even though a cross that is “red” is a symbol of hope that help is on its way it is also seen negatively in the middle east because of the reminder of the early days of the crusades when the church was trying to spread Christianity to other countries. However, they used the crescent which adorns many mosques (like churches) as their symbol. This is similar to the Star of David; the crescent is actually a much older pagan symbol. Christian cross is by far the most popular one. The Christian faith uses the cross as a symbol. It has become so popular. It is not unheard of to have a tattoo of the cross on your body to represent your beliefs.

Although the cross obviously has a long history it should be afforded some level of respect .However, if you’re a Christian it would not be for worship like any other object should not be worshiped. It’s still a symbol of Christianity, it’s just not “Christianity “itself only a representative or figurine wearing the cross necklace.
