kitchen doors
60My next project is going to be redoing or replacing my kitchen doors. I am not sure if I should replace them or refinish them. I figured if I was going to buy an integrated dishwasher to hide behind a kitchen door I may also want to redo my kitchen cupboards or at least consider it. I am also aware as I have stated in a prior article that newer or updated kitchens tend to increase the value of the owners home.
I am new to buying these kitchen doors and still need to look to see if there is a name brand or certain type I should be considering. Everything seems to evolve mainly around the style of doors to purchase. I can find a Euroline cupboard door, oxford style kitchen door to even a Venice style. It may be time to involve the wife at this point. It also this type of subject that makes looking like resurfacing my old kitchen doors could be the best idea, especially if I could get my wife to do the work. The biggest addition or plus to redoing your own cupboards is I know what I have & I know they fit. My biggest concern about refinishing them is having them all look slightly different and the workspace I have available to take on a project like this.
The wife and I looked into resurfacing our kitchen doors versus buying new cabinets. My initial concern is the amount of time and energy it will take to resurface when it might be cheaper and more cost effective to just buy new kitchen doors. I am not talking about purchase a whole new kitchen cabinet just the kitchen doors. It would be nice if I could find a warehouse that sells these doors and buy directly from the kitchen door manufacture. The only problem with this idea is they usually want you buy in bulk. I did this with my last home except I did it for a kitchen and actually went to a construction company and added my order to their order on one of their projects. This could be the most cost effective method where I would get the most return on my investment. A large consideration needs to be taken into account before starting my remodeling project. The biggest questions are will I continue to live here for a significant time or do I plan on moving in 10 years. My answer is to move as soon as I feel the housing market has hit bottom and is beginning to rebound thus my reluctance in buying kitchen doors.
